Wesley Chapel, Florida, is a fast-growing suburban community in Pasco County located just north of Tampa. Known for its master-planned neighborhoods, modern amenities, and high quality of life, it offers shopping, entertainment, and top-rated schools, making it very popular with families and professionals alike.
Settled in the mid-1800s, Wesley Chapel was originally called “Double Branch” after two creeks flowing across land owned by early settler Boyette. The name changed to Wesley Chapel in honor of a Methodist chapel once located at State Road 54 and Boyette Road. Pioneer industries were centered around sawmills, turpentine, cattle, hog farming, citrus, and small crops.
Infrastructural growth accelerated in the latter part of the 20th century—with the building of I-75, State Road 54 bridges, and the opening of Saddlebrook Resort in 1979—that spurred residential and commercial development.
Today, Wesley Chapel is among the fastest-expanding communities in Florida. Key destinations include The Shops at Wiregrass, Tampa Premium Outlets, Epperson Lagoon (a large crystal lagoon), and excellent hospital facilities. It retains both rural roots and modern conveniences.
