Lauderhill, Florida, is a diverse and vibrant city in central Broward County, located about 7 miles northwest of Fort Lauderdale. Incorporated on June 20, 1959, by developer Herbert Sadkin, the area transformed from dairy farms into a planned suburban community. The name “Lauderhill” was coined by William Safire, replacing the proposed “Sunnydale” during its early development.

Known as the “All‑America City,” Lauderhill is renowned for its cultural diversity—particularly its strong Caribbean and African American communities—and tropical foliage, including mango and avocado trees. It features the country’s first ICC‑certified international cricket stadium at Central Broward Regional Park, drawing global matches and major recreation events.

Lauderhill’s housing includes ranch-style homes and low-rise condos, with the 1966 Lauderhill Mall marking the region’s first enclosed air-conditioned mall. Today, the city offers more than 24 parks, a dynamic arts center, and a growing business sector—making it a family-friendly and culturally rich destination.
