Eustis, Florida

Living in Eustis

Eustis, Florida (Lake County) is a charming lakeside city nestled along the eastern shore of Lake Eustis in Central Florida. Known for its historic downtown, scenic waterfront views, and community spirit, Eustis is part of the “Golden Triangle” area along with Mount Dora and Tavares.

The city’s origins date back to the 1870s, when settlers were drawn to the area’s fertile soil and abundant lakes. It was officially incorporated in 1883 and named after General Abraham Eustis, a U.S. Army officer who served in the Seminole Wars. In its early years, Eustis thrived on citrus farming, steamboat transport, and later railroads that connected it to nearby trade routes.

Today, Eustis blends old-Florida charm with modern living. The city hosts annual events like GeorgeFest, one of the nation’s oldest festivals, and features parks, art galleries, and a revitalized downtown—making it a beloved destination in Lake County.
