Holiday, Florida is a census-designated place (CDP) in Pasco County on the Gulf Coast, part of the Tampa Bay metro area. With about 24,939 residents as of the 2020 census, Holiday covers roughly 5.70 square miles, of which 5.35 sq mi is land. It offers coastal proximity, suburban neighborhoods, and a mix of amenities like schools, parks, and library services.
The name “Holiday” originated in the early 1960s. William W. Boyd, president of First Federal Savings & Loan, noticed “Holiday Drive” on a map near the site of a branch he intended to build. He adopted the name for the branch and began promoting it for the area. Over time, it caught on, and the community embraced the Holiday name.
Holiday’s growth accelerated in the mid-20th century as suburban development expanded along Pasco’s Gulf coast. The community features public schools like Anclote High School and Gulf Trace Elementary, the first LEED-certified school in Florida. Its Centennial Park Branch Library also serves Holiday and neighboring Elfers. Today, Holiday blends relaxed coastal living with convenient access to Tampa’s urban opportunities, making it an appealing coastal suburb in Pasco County.
