A University of North Florida poll found that more than 80 percent of registered voters support the city’s $150 million piece of the community benefits agreement to support the new stadium. The poll also illustrated how the CBA makes a big difference in the level of support for the overall new stadium bill. Only 41 percent said they supported the city spending $775 million on the stadium renovation — but that support for the deal rose to 56 percent when the community benefits agreement was included. Nearly 700 Duval County voters were polled. The poll found they would rather their tax dollars go toward a new jail rather than a new Jacksonville Jaguars stadium if they had to choose.
Most voters polled, nearly 75%, supported using $1 billion of public money on a new jail.
The poll found most voters do not want city money going toward the Stadium of the Future unless it includes money for other city projects including workforce development, affordable housing, homelessness and parks.
